implementing touchscreenForum: Other Help Topics Topic: implementing touchscreen started by: colinbes Posted by colinbes on June 27 2004,17:48
Trusting I don't get too many peoples backs up but I am looking for some assistance in adding touchscreen functionality to embedded pc project that I am busy with. The application is a GUI application, so touchscreen needs to be supported in windowing environment as well as supplying software based keyboard interface. The touchscreen that I would like to use has a usb interface. As I am using this in an embedded pc application I need to keep the solution as lightweight as possible. Due to time constraints I am looking for someone able to resolve this in as short as time as possible. My apologies to those offended. (I personally would like to see forum item for just such requests). Cheers Posted by bluefreak on June 28 2004,12:01
wow. that sounds hard to do. good luck finding someone who can help you, though.

What project?
Which touchscreen?
Which touchscreen?
Cash register? Automobile PC? Star Trek Control Pad? What are you doing?
Resolve what? Nobody knows what you want to do yet.
How could anyone possibly be offended with that amount of sketchy information. Gotta admit, I'm curious as to what you're doing, but I have no idea what you want. You need to give more information before someone is going to be willing to help. Especially since it sounds like you're going to be making some money off this. Why should I bog this forum down witha) detailed information which will not be relevant to most people. b) The 'offended' is raised as I am offering payment to someone who is willing and able to assist. Some people may well believe this forum is not intended for this. c) And yes, I am going to make money (at least try) from this which is why I made it obvious that I am willing to pay for this service. Also I don't think if I addressed any of your comments you would be in any better position to quote (at least I wouldn't). The idea was to have people who believe they have the skill set to contact me to discuss further offline and not tie this forum up. Posted by AwPhuch on June 28 2004,16:09

The short and sweet answer is:If your touchscreen uses the USB PS/2 or Microsoft "Intellimouse" protocols, then your touchscreen should work fine with DSL. Otherwise, you could be in trouble. Posted by Grim on June 29 2004,01:52
What? No, seriously--what?
Yeah? Well, what skillset would that be? Coding in C? Perl? Python? Bash? Would the applicant be required to program any aspect of the interface you wish to implement, or just help you set up Linux on an exotic piece of hardware? How would somebody know if they had the skillset you require from your post? If you just want somebody who knows their way around Linux, pretty much anybody who answers a lot of questions in these forums can help you. Cbagger, ke4nt1, hasty and several others all know their stuff and can help you get your project (whatever that may be) working. I wasn't trying to be a dick, I'm sure anybody here that knows me can tell you when I'm being a dick. I was trying to be helpful and elicit some more information so that somebody who has the skillset you require might be interested. Hell, I might be able to help you but I have absolutely no idea what you want to do and so far what you have detailed really isn't all that interesting (see that's me being more dick-like).
