.deb packages in DSL

From what I have read, DSl is a slimmed down version of knoppix, witch is based on Debian right? If so, doesnt that mean that it shoud be able to read Debian packages? If it can, how woud I go about doing that?

If you already got the deb downloaded, choose enable apt from the aps/tools menu . Then from console type dpkg -i nameofyourdebhere.deb
