setting up Dial-up; entering the right com portForum: Other Help Topics Topic: setting up Dial-up; entering the right com port started by: anime2k3 Posted by anime2k3 on Nov. 17 2004,20:16
im having trouble setting up dialup in DSL.im positive everything is set up right except the comport to the modem. i believe my modem is on either com port 4 or 5, but i dont know how linux refers to them by name? for example com 1 would be ttsy0 or something like that, from some of the options in the dialup internet setup. Does someone know the names of the rest of the ports preferebly 4-6. your help is greatly apreciated. Posted by Razor Toting Jim on Nov. 18 2004,03:42
Would that be a US ROBOTICS PCI modem? If so they are made to set up on com 5. In linux ttyS4 is com 5 make sure you capitalize the S ttys4 is not the same as ttyS4. Just tell the pppconfig program which port your modem is on.You should be good to go if it's a serial modem. Posted by anime2k3 on Nov. 18 2004,12:46
