Hi, I'm a totally newbie to this all linux thing, and i tend to like it .So I was just trying out the booting from cd, and that worked out nice. But now I have some questions: 1) How do I let Linux boot from a USB Memory Stick(more people asked it, but I didn't understand what they did)? 2) How do I save my settings to a USB memory stick(same as above), like desktop style, mydsl apps, that sort of things. 3) How do I connect to the internet using my ADSL line? I have a Speedtouch USB modem... Can someone please help me with this? Posted by green on Dec. 08 2004,03:54
Cybermaster,First off, we don't know what version of DSL you've got your hands on. However, try this: Right click on the desk top navigate with your mouse to: Apps -> Tools -> Install to USB Pendrive Also, look here. < USB Booting > You'll have to read a little bit, as the answers are there, but may not jump up and say, "Here I am!" Also, check the Boot USB Compatiblity List in the same place. Be patient and poke around. You'll be glad you did, because you will come across other things that are just as cool.... Good luck. If you are running MS Windows 2000/XP on the computer, you can go into a Windows Command prompt and type:ipconfig and then write down the information. Then boot into DSL and enter these numbers. You could also replace the netcardconfig command with: ifup -a and see if that works instead. Posted by TheCybermaster on Dec. 10 2004,06:31
I tried what you said(both commands) but dillo still says Error: DNS can't solve www.damnsmalllinux.org!
