Hey Guys,

I'm proudly posting this from DSL using firefox(Live CD, 0.9.1) on a Pentium 75(amazing). Very nice. I am highly impressed by the whole OS. Here's my problem though. All of my colors are completely messed up. I have a Compaq Presario 140 monitor that has worked fine for every single other thing I have ever run on it. Even the boot for DSL works fine. I'm not quite sure what the problem is. When I start up DSL it says I passed an undefined video mode and that I needed to select an option. I usually pick option number 5, because it looks best on my computer. What do those options mean(I understand the colxrow thing, but nothing else.

Anyways, what do you guys suggest? If you want a screen capture, I'll try to get it  to you if you tell me how. But I don't think it is nessisary. I have had to change the colors and stuff in my firefox settings to make surfing bearable, but images are constantly problematic. I also have a hard time using all the rest of the apps on DSL as well.

Any help would be great!!!

Thanks!

Do you know the name / model of your video card?

My advice is to boot dsl using this command:

dsl vga=normal xsetup

This will get rid of the undefined mode error message and it will allow you to choose XVesa server and let you pick some various options for display resolution and color depth.  Maybe one of them will work for you.  If not, try again.

Also, you can boot with:

dsl vga=normal 2

and then type Xvesa -listmodes

(not the capital "X" letter)

and see what are the supported modes for your video card.

My first attempt would be to try 800x600 with 16bit color

Hope this helps.
