This is kind of a continuation from another thread, but I think this is more appropriate section for it.

I received a laptop from my mom not too long ago, but it had some problems with Win 2K on it.  I formatted the hard drive and put DOS 7.1 on it.  I'm not a big windows fan, I've had nothing but trouble with it, so I decided to try Linux.  I came across DSL and thought, 50mb?! I can download this on my dial-up! Yay!  The Laptop only has a floppy drive in it, but I have an external Iomeg ZIP CD-RW.  Trouble is, it only has a USB cable to hook it up.  I downloaded the ISO for DSL and burned it to CD with some help from these forums, but my laptop wont recognize the CD drive.  I tried a boot disk I found on mike.warpedbelief.com/dos/msdos71/ and it still wont recognize it, any ideas?

So I tried that USB boot disk, it worked! My CD drive was recognized, but I guess I burned the CD incorrectly because it wasnt booting from the CD, and when I tried it in my buddies PC it didnt work either.  So I go to burn the CD again and my CD burner quit out on me, it has to be a problem with the adapter because I get no power.

Is there any way to break down the ISO to fit on floppies? I know it would take like 50 disks, but I am desperate to get a decent OS on my laptop and quit using this stupid Mac.

Check out the DSL documentation page under the "Talk" section of the DamnSmallLinux website.

There is a section there that gives a procedure for doing a floppy install with DOS utils.
