recently new to linux, DSL is my first installation so sorry if this is an obvious question.
I have managed the HD install onto a Pentium 200, and have connected to the internet without any hitchs. My first attempt to add extensions has come up with a problem.
I need to install CUPS and GCC which I hoped to do via MyDSL. As a starter I tried TUXPAINT (for the four old).
MyDSL started, connected and grabbed Tuxpaint without any problem. It appears in the start menu under MyDSL. However, it will not run if clicked on and MyDSL will not startup again, even after a re-boot.
Am I expected to any installing once the extension has been grabbed or should it be full working without any further tinkering.

If you are going to add to the basic DSL distro with extensions,
it is best to have the gnu-utils.dsl package installed first..
This adds back all the full featured apps that programs like
busybox replaces..

After installing the gnu-utils.dsl, see if your extension runs ok.

Let us know..

Excellent, thanks.
This makes sense, as I started playing with apt-get after MyDSL broke. Binutils kept coming up as a dependancy for some of the stuff I was after.

Plan for today is to re-install Win95 (purely for the scanner) and dual-boot a HDinstall of DSL for everything else.
