so when i have use dsl i only take out the cd and restart to get windows back?

If you are running liveCD, yes.

If you set up a harddrive install you'd need to create a linux partition (and a swap partition would be useful), and install a bootloader either in master boot record or on a bootable disk (or use the CD+bootfrom option to boot?).

Not until you burn the file out at an "Image file" to a blank CD-R.

For example, in Nero you would go to the top menu:

File ->  Burn Image

for older Nero.

For newer Nero it is:

Recorder -> Burn Image.

You WILL have a live CD when you burn the  .iso image to a CD.

Check out this link to see how:

Your burn was successful.  What you are seeing is the command prompt, which would be normal if not for the fact that DSL is set up to automatically start the graphical interface.
So the default X setup apparently does not work with your hardware.
Trying various boot options may help you, such as booting into a lower resolution.
If you press F2 at the initial splash screen, where it says "boot:" for a few seconds, you should get a list of available boot options.
Another option is running "sudo xsetup.sh" and trying different settings there.  If you choose this method, do 'startx' to see if it will work.

thank you but know my question is what sould i write when i am in boot options?
Posted by mikshaw on Feb. 18 2005,23:24
there are several things you could try, such as 'dsl vga=normal'.  As I said, press F2 to get a list.
