I have a Frugal install on a CompactFlash set up as a hard drive and I have a mirror of that same CF on a removable USB reader.

My problem is that now when I try to boot my CF when it searches for the knoppix image at the beginning it searches the USB first and finds the image on that drive.. how can I force DSL to ignore the USB drive when looking for the image or to check the HD first?

I am not positive this will work since I haven't ever used your configuration but if you are getting the boot prompt you would type 'dsl fromhd=/dev/hda1' or whatever partition you want to boot from.

Thanks Chris, that's exactly what I was looking for.  I just edited my syslinux.cfg file and put that in the boot options string and it worked like a charm.  Awesome!

if you type:
dsl fromhd=/dev/hda1 knoppix_dir=where_the_KNOPPIX_file_is
you can have moore the one on the same partition
