I've been attempting to backup and restore my firefox bookmarks by adding the bookmark filepath as a line in filetool.lst as per usual.  (I see no point in backing up the history, cache, and all the other stuff etc etc - all I want restored are the bookmarks and possibly the preference settings).

But it doesn't work - on launching Firefox after reboot & restore, Firefox asks me to set up a profile.  But when I select default and try, it says that is already in use.  Trying to create another profile doesn't work either. I thought perhaps the profile.ini file needed to be backed up also, however that did not help.

I'm still using dsl 0.9.0.1.

Help anybody?

Please upgrade.

FYI, it (filetool.sh) will not back up your cache, history, etc. by default...It should however backup your bookmarks! With that said, please upgrade.

If you feel the need to edit filetool.sh to change this behaviour, you certainly can.

Once more, please upgrade =)

Thx, Tronik.  Sure, I will upgrade.  I've put it off because of all the .dsl upgrade issues, laziness, slow connection, fixing my backup tarball etc etc excuses, excuses

In the meantime I discovered that, with 0.9.0.1, adding all of home/dsl/.mozilla to filetool.lst indeed seems to be necessary to backup/restore bookmarks - suprisingly this doesn't restore the cache contents in any case (but it does restore various histories etc).

Since firefox does not include a 'clear cache and history on closing' option (coming in Firefox 1.1), I wrote a little script to emulate this  - starts from bootlocal.sh, runs in the background, and deletes selected crap when firefox closes.

But I will upgrade....
