bootsplash for DSL..Forum: Other Help Topics Topic: bootsplash for DSL.. started by: mara Posted by mara on Mar. 18 2005,12:45
Hi,I had a look into several forums, How-tos etc for how to get a bootsplash. In all you need to take the path /usr/src/linux but I simply cannot find any directory named src. Did I just play too much ;) or is it simply non-existent? If non-existent....any other possibility to make a bootsplash work? Its for a company and they want their logo and a status bar showing the loading progress. I never played around with stuff like that so Im a bit helpless. :/ greetz, Mara Posted by mikshaw on Mar. 18 2005,13:12
I haven't done it either, except in a distro which already had a bootsplash installed by default. There are no sources in DSL...not none nowhere. However, there is a kernel source DSL extension available (click on the "repository" link on the main damnsmalllinux.org page). I don't know if the kernel supports it, but this may get you going. EDIT: Unless John rebuilt the kernel for DSL, it should have support for bootsplash. It would need the splash package (maybe one from Knoppix will work), and you might need to change the initrd (don't ask me...i dunno how). All I know for sure is that I saw mention of a splash boot option, and /etc/init.d/splash.sh script Posted by mara on Mar. 21 2005,07:10
