Hi,

I need to install VNC, share a USB pen drive w/ samba (so I could add/remove pictures as required), install unclutter and feh and run a cronjob to shutdown the laptop (will add restart into the bios). And I need all this on a CD.

I have the RC1 ISO. How can I add the required apps and reauthor a cd.

I know that there are bits and pieces in the forum, but no complete solution. I searched but only found VNC.dsl. None of the other apps or the samba share. And nothing clear about reauthoring.

Can someone help?

Also info on how I can test the cd image before burning much appreciated.

Oh and one more thing! I'd like to use my Cisco Aironet wireless card in this machine!

Thanks

You're asking a lot for a single thread.  The reason you see bits and pieces is because most people would want to know how to install programs.....then they'd want to learn how to remaster...etc.  This thread is going to end up being extremely long and no one will read it =o)

Samba is here:

I don't know what unclutter is.  Can you use imagemagick instead of Feh?  If so there is an extension for it.  Otherwise you can try apt-get to install, and use the deb2dsl script to create an extension from it.

There are TONS of threads about reauthoring on these forums. Try searching for "remaster".  One easy way (so i've heard) is using the mkmydsl script.

Thanks, Milkshaw!

I also found 'qemu' for one of my questions above. However, I am currently unable to load my harddisk and the RC1 image together. If I specify the hd image, it does not boot through the CDROM image. Also, makmydsl is'nt very intuitive. I lack a good guide specifying how to install specific apps. The one that exists isn't very clear.

I finally have all I want on a harddisk, which I'd like to put onto a CD as is. Is this possible?

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, there is a command to remaster the dsl iso from within dsl.

Right click->tools->apps->Make myDSL CD remaster
