To dive right into this,I have been meesing with different livecd's. All I have been able to get to at least boot. I have used knoppix and it worked great. I decided to try DSL. I can not seem to get it to boot with video. This is odd because my setup is not diiferent from the norm. Asus A7N8x Athlon 3000+ 512 PC3200 ATI Radeon 9500pro MSI dvd burner DVD Rom Floppy KDS Xtreme Flat 19 inch monitor I mentioned knoppix above, because I know that DSL is based on knoppix. The video on knoppix worked with no boot mod. I have tried different config usinf F2 and then using the vga=normal option. Once it goes through the detect process and config, and starts to boot to the desktop, Black screen. I did try the failsafe boot option. It did boot with what appeared to be normal video but than my wireless usb mouse did not work. I appreciate any time and knowledge that you could spare to me. That's a nforce2 borad, iirc.You have 2 options. You can unplug the ethernet cable from the onboard nic, and use the standard Xvesa server, or you can use framebuffer mode. Dunno why the forcedeth module causes Xvesa to die, but it does. -J.P. |
