I tried to install iirc the "newer" fluxbox ver 0.9.1.1 I think ffrom the dsl repository. Now I think I did everything right but if in a term window I say "fluxbox --version" the # it spits out is wrong. Also I don't think I did it right b/c My corners on some apps like Aterm aren't rounded (which they should be yes?) and other stuff. ideas on how to figure out which ver I am running or how to install the .dsl I have correctly? aveline Posted by mikshaw on May 10 2005,02:35
You have both versions. The extension was built so that it does not affect the default window manager. The extension does not install into your path, so using the "fluxbox -version" command will run the default fluxbox stable. You'd need to do "/opt/fluxbox-0.9.11/bin/fluxbox -version" to get the version of the extension. Round corners are set in the style file: window.roundCorners: TopLeft TopRight BottomLeft BottomRight Posted by aveline on May 11 2005,02:56
ok so ... assuming I wanted to use the newer fluxbox how would i do that? On a somewhat related topic, I've been futzing with Rox filer & love it. How would I go about installing their complete desktop WM (er or whatever it is) so that I could choose on boot say if I wanted to load flux or Rox? Is this possible or am I asking too much ? I know I did it once on MDK 8 or 9.x but that isn't dsl and in that case it was just a matter of d/ling appropriate RPM files & installing. ty avey Posted by mikshaw on May 11 2005,03:08
Always read the info file associated with a myDSL package...sometimes you aren't going to be able to do squat with the software unless you know a little about how the package was built.Installing the rox desktop at this point requires installation from deb files, as far as i know. If you want to choose on boot which one you want to run, you'd need to set up some sort of script or other form of chooser, such as xdm. That's a fairly lengthy story. |
