Hey all, i have an issue DSl on my 1998 laptop dosesnt wana seem to work for me so i want to force a sock pupet down its throat and make it work for me.... So i was wondering how to force it to cd boot from such an old system. It says it will but by the time its done it says it doesent want to do it. Thats why im asking for help on this. got any ideas?

This is the force-feed method:

Assumes that your computer has an existing MSDOS/Win95/98/ME partition, IE: C:\ drive

1) Boot into your existing OS and copy the \knoppix\knoppix file over from the CD-R disk and into C:\knoppix\knoppix.

USE LOWERCASE LETTERS for the filename and directory name.

2)  Go to the DSL download site and download the boot floppy image file.

3) Google for Rawrite2.exe (DOS) or rawrite32.zip (Windows) and download it.  Use it to create a boot floppy disk with the image file from step 2

4) Reboot with the boot floppy.

5) Enjoy

i have been trying to get rawwrite to work and anything i enter it just shutsdown.. do i open it in ms-dos?

Rawrite should work in a true MSDOS system.

Otherwise, use rawrite32 if using Windows NT/2000/XP
or even Windows 95/98/ME
