AST Ascentia J50, P1 133mhz, 2gb hd, 40mb ram,Floppy drive, Parallel Zipdrive, Pcmcia cdrom, dual pcmcia slots running DSL 1.1 harddrive install. I am trying to install a Belkin F5U222 dual port usb2 32 bit pcmcia cardbus. I have googled my eye balls out for info on this with little luck. On bootup cardmgr does not report this card, although it finds the pcmcia interface.(If I use my wifi card, both slots are working fine.) Running dmesg shows(abbreviated): usb.c: registered new driver usbdevfs and new driver hub uhci high bandwidth mode enabled Then reports uhci v1.275 deregistering driver usbdevfs, driver hub registered driver usbdevfs, driver hub deregistering driver usbdevfs, driver hub usb.c:registered new driver usbdevfs and new driver hub usb.c:registered hiddev and hid hid-core.c:v1.8.1 and USB-HID support and drivers I8253 count too high! resetting.. I do not know if this will work, but give it a try.Open up an xterminal window and type: sudo modprobe ehci-hcd exit and then try the usbview.dsl extension and see if it found your USB2 host controller. Posted by B0SC0 on June 05 2005,19:43
Hi cbagger01,Here are my results. modprobe ehci-hcd fails usbview gives me this error on startup : 1.make sure usb compiled in kernel 2. make sure usb core modules loaded 3. make sure usbdevfs filesystem is mounted What do I need to do? Thanks B0SC0 Posted by cbagger01 on June 06 2005,02:52
Are you sure that your laptop supports 32 bit "Cardbus" cards? It may be that your laptop may be limited to support for only the original 16 bit pcmcia type cards. |
