I have dsl installed on my hardive. I have been able to download and run several apps fom the mydsl panel. The problem is whenever I go to "My DSL" in the menu only one item shows up. Is there a way to have all the apps I have downloaded show up in the menu?

Something went wrong.  Each time you install a mydsl application it should show up in the menu, unless it's some utility that wouldn't be launched from a menu such as gnu-utils or dpkg.

You should really reconsider use of mydsl apps in a harddrive install.  They are made primarily for liveCD and frugal, and may be a problem in a harddrive install.

Yes I had the same problem. What alternative do you suggest? Do you mean we should redownload all the packages we want in non DSL format? I say that is a waste of the specialised DSL packages.

Not really a waste.  The extensions are provided as a simple way to add applications to an otherwise limited system.  A harddrive install is not limited in the same way.  With a harddrive install, not only do you have persistent additions, but by using apt-get instead of mydsl you also have documentation and other extras which are ripped from extensions, plus it's a true package manager which means updating and uninstalling are built-in.

The only time I've had problems with applications not displaying in the menu was when the menu file in the extension did not include a newline after the menu entry.  This resulted in multiple items being added to the same line of the menu, and therefore not displaying.

Some programs do not have menu items...that's another possibility.

oops...i forgot about this:
