What does dsl do for auto shut off machine when you go bed? Why debian does not do that? Is some soft I must install? or some I must configure? Knoppix Dsl and a lot of distros power-off puter but others does not I was looking at dsl's packages trying to guess which of them could be...but I don't

I was thinking the same. I think I recall DSL .93 shutting off my computer the very first time I used it. It nolonger autoshuts off my computer after the "Ejecting CD. Please Remove the CD and close the drawer, then press enter" notice. Another debian/knoppix based Linux I have tried recently, Kanotix, shut down the computer after choosing shutdown and the notice came up.

So, how can dsl be made to turn off the computer?

Are you still running from the livecd disk?

If not, you need to add the "frugal" boot parameter to your bootloader.

For a lilo install, this means editing your lilo.conf and adding

frugal

to the end of your append statement and saving the file.  Then as user root, run the lilo -v command from the prompt and then reboot.

Otherwise, ignore this message.
