How do I add new fonts to DSL?Forum: Other Help Topics Topic: How do I add new fonts to DSL? started by: meo Posted by meo on Sep. 28 2004,16:49
Well that is basically my question: How do I add new fonts to DSL and saving them with the backup function. So my point is that I want to be able to take my cd and usb-drive (with the backup) and use it wherever I go. Thanks in advance!Have fun out there, meo Posted by ke4nt1 on Sep. 28 2004,21:11
Make sure you havethe latest version of gnu-utils.It has recently had the mkfontdir executable added. This will allow you to update your fonts.dir files.. I place my extra fonts, like the artwiz fonts, etc. in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc .. Once copied there, you'll need to run " /usr/sbin/update-fonts-dir misc " command. This will use mkfontdir to update the fonts.dir file in the misc directory. Then it is a simple matter to add the line " usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc" to your filetool.lst Backup to your key, and when you restore, they will be ready-to-go.. 73 ke4nt Posted by meo on Sep. 29 2004,16:43

Hmm..I did as ke4nt1 wrote (adding artwiz fonts, on 28th Sept above) but then how do I use the new fonts? I made a new theme on the basis of an existing one (Shade) and changed all occurences of lucidasans-10 to anorexia-12, saved the file, chose that style, restarted WindowManager but the font did not change... What am I doing wrong? Posted by 9a6or on Feb. 26 2005,23:17
The toolbar's font has actually changed but the desktop icons' text font has not changed... HowTo?

The icon fonts are not related to fluxbox...they are part of Xtdesk. If there is a config file for that program i'm sure you'll be able to change the font there.
