Do you plug your computer into your aDSL modem using a USB cable, or do you use a NIC (network card and LAN cable)?

It appears that a LAN connection works pretty well:

but a USB connection is harder to get working:

The easiest way to get this stuff to work is to buy a home router like a Linksys and use the router to connect to your aDSL modem.

Then it is very easy to plug any computer with a standard LAN card into your router and it will work automatically, no questions asked.

I believe it is not recognizing my network card. It tells me no recognized network card. Also when I type in a url mozilla tells me to check the address and try again??? I have a Dell Dimension 4600c with a integrated nic card.

yes, the broadcom nic module is not auto-loaded (i'm going to put it in the small bugs list).

try "modprobe b44" from a root xterm, then run netcardconfig.
