Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to download dsl. I've never used linux before and the extensions have me baffled. I am downloading it to a partition on my Mac and I just want to know what to download and if it's possible to even download it to a Mac. Thanks.

We do not currently have a PPC (mac) version.

That said, if you intend using DSL with a PC, then you should (I think) be able to create a PC-bootable CD from a Mac.  The file to download should be an ".iso", which is a disk image to burn a cd from.  With your CD burning software, you need to "burn image" or something similar, and point to the ISO file as the image.  Don't just burn the file to CD like you would a normal data file, it is an actual image of what the entire CD structure should be, and must be burnt as an image.

I'm pretty clueless about macs and MacOS X - but OSX is linux or unix based, correct?  So does that mean in theory there should be some way to get DSL to run on a Mac????

It would take compiling EVERYTHING from the source code to run on the PPC arch, but yes it is possible.

Although a "fan-based" port is supposedly occuring, an official port isn't likely to happen, seeing as no one on the devel team (John, Robert), or even the support team (ke4nt, myself)  has access to a mac for the lengths of time that a port would require.

I tried booting DSL on a Mac, it doesn't work at all. Only for PC does it boot.

(just said it again in plain english so as not to confuse the original topic poster)
