Hi

i want to install german keyboard layouts, but i dont know how. Plaese help.

pinhead1212, have you tried:

crtl+alt+backspace  (to kill X and all X applications)
loadkeys de (or fr, es, or whatever you country code is)
startx  (to restart X)

thx. that works. but how can i load it at startup automaticly???

pinhead1212, check out this long thread on < changing the default keyboard layout >.

There looks to be more than one way to do it.  Try typing

knoppix lang=de

at the boot: prompt.  Or try remastering the CD like ypx did.  or use the mkmydsl script (look < here >)

you can also use the search button to search for posts that might be able to answer your question.  Make sure to search all forums and from the beginning.

Hi!
I've got a rather similar problem:
All my german-specific keys work perfectly well (esp. in textmode-console)  but under x i cant use my meta keys (for pipes and @ & stuff) and my arrowkeys correctly.  :(
Can anyone give me a hint? :
