How can I access the hard disk?

I am an almost virgin linux user (have used Mandrakelinux a bit). I have windows XP installed on the main computer. How can I access the hard drive and my windows files etc. from within DSL (its great by the way)? Also, are there any tutorials on DSL that I can learn from?
