How do i upgrade from fluxbox 0.9.9 -< 0.9.10 ( i want to keep my menu intact!) What steps do i take? (first backup-ed the menu from fluxbox!)Second: download the fluxbox-0.9.10.deb? dpkg -i *.deb? Then what? Posted by mikshaw on Nov. 28 2004,15:19
That is NOT going to upgrade the 0.9.9 extension, no matter how much you mess around with it. The extension was created from source, compiled to install in a specific directory completely removed (except for "apps" file) from the version included with DSL. The deb package has been compiled to install into the standard /usr/* directories. The only way to upgrade the dsl extension is to compile fluxbox to install into /opt/fluxbox.I suppose it's been long enough...I've been using 0.9.10 on my workstation since the day it was released, with no big problems. I'll build your upgrade this afternoon. Posted by Patrick on Nov. 28 2004,15:28

I am also running Fluxbox 9.9 and would like to upgrade, so thanks mikshaw ( asumming of course that you are going to make it available to all). What are the differances between the two?

It's now evening, and I haven't yet built the new extension (but I will, REALLY!).I just wanted to mention that you can maybe still install 0.9.10 from the deb package....it just won't upgrade the current dev extension. I think it will upgrade the fluxbox which comes with DSL though. The only thing you might consider is the fact that there were issues getting 0.9.* installed into DSL via DEB package, so it might not work. DSL is missing a couple of things which a standard Fluxbox package needs. In order to create the DSL extension, those features were not compiled into it. Posted by Patrick on Nov. 29 2004,07:25
I think i will wait for your new extension.... (already tried several times to install flux 0.9.10 (via *.deb / apt.get / tar.gz -> compile). I am not that smart yet to get it running... (may also have to do with the fact that i have got 0.9.9 running on top of the flux that comes with dsl 084 and i have some data backup-ed and restored at boottime from the ~/.fluxbox map)
