I'm a newbie to Linux. Of course, my Win 98 gave me the blue screen and now my XP is freezing up at least twice a day, so I guessed that Linux was the answer. But alas, I have booted the .img file from a floppy and I see penguin at the top left corner (Linux logo) and it searches for knoppix filesystem but then it gives me an error in red:

"Cannot find Knoppix filesystem, sorry, dropping you to a shell"

I want to know if this is because the .iso on my cd is corrupted or not? I don't understand the md5sum method. =( Thanks, I'm downloading a new .iso just in case...

did you just copy the image to a cd as an .iso file?

if so, try using nero (or whatever) to burn it as an image.

works a LOT better. ;)
