Hello, probably a FAQ but I don't see it any where. I've figured out how to backup and restore my config, but for the life of me I don't understand how to edit, say /etc/wgetrc => save => backup. When I do edit wgetrc in /etc or in /KNOPPIX/etc and save in vi with :w!, the file system is reported as read-only. Clearly I am missing something. Can someone get me going again?

Thanks

Dave :)

Duh! In case anyone else has this issue...

1) Deleted link /etc/wgetrc
2) Copied /KNOPPIX/etc/wgetrc /etc/wgetrc
3) Edited wgetrc
4) Backed up.

Amazing what a cup of coffee will do  :)

could you provide the syntax/context of the wgetrc file?
I've been on the lookout for a template for my own, but i cant make it work :(

Unfortunaly, I haven't been able to get wgetrc to work either. I've been working with the wgetrc that is in the ditro (/KNOPPIX/etc/wgetrc). Changing the proxy settings hasn't worked in my case. I'm trying to understand what it is at this point. I started down the path of using ethereal but realized I need to understand how to extend dsl first. so...
