I have installed Foxfire in linux hard drive installs like this:
l. put the foxfire.tar.gz in /home
2. gunzip foxfire*, then tar -xvf foxfire*
3. It will unpack, and create a /home/foxfire directory, with all the components
   necessary for foxfire to run.
4. To start foxfire, I would cd to /home/foxfire
    and ./foxfire
5. Foxfire should start.
6. In your home directory for the user account you are logged in as, a .phoenix
   directory will be created. That will hold all of your personal settings for Foxfire,
   as well as your cache and history, etc.
7. Some kind of shortcut needs to be made so you can start Foxfire without
   having to cd to the /home/foxfire directory in a terminal and run it there.
8. The damn small scripts to download and install Foxfire should have made
   a desktop icon if you are using damn small's fluxbox window manager.
   If you did use damn small to download it with a script, off the damn small
   menu, then the icon will do to start Foxfire. You can also edit your
   /home/damnsmall/.fluxbox/menu file to include an entry for Foxfire.
   Here is what I have there for MozillaFirebird:
   ----
   Debian MENU

[begin] (Damn Small 0.6.2)
[exec] (Root Shell) {rxvt -rv -fn fixed -cr yellow  -T "Bash" -e sudo /bin/bash}
[exec] (MozillaFireBird) {/opt/MozillaFirebird/MozillaFirebird }
------------
  As you can see, the Damn Small installer places the directory in /opt
  and you have to point to it to boot the browser.
  Of course, there is lots more to the menu, but since I use MozillaFirebird a lot,
  then I have it at the top of my menu. I use SciTE to edit the menu file.

I have Firebird on CD and don't know how to run it.  I insert and click the "CD" window on the right of the desktop but it won't run.  How to?
