Where is the script or whatever that says to login automatically as damnsmall? I would like to have it up up with just a text logon screen.

If you're still booting from the CD, hit F2 at the boot screen and read the directions.

I'm on the reboot end of a HD install and got to "boxlogin" and find a password that will be accepted, WTF? Fixed.
