If you successfully burned your .iso to the CD, you can boot from that if you have
changed the boot order on your PC to look to the CDROM drive for bootable
media before going to C:\ drive.
---
For some reason that I do not understand, since 0.6, DSL CD's that I burn seem
to take up to two minutes to "fire up" and boot on the PC I am on now.
I did not have that problem with the 0.5.3.1 cd that I purchased from John Andrews, the DSL main man.
My laptop seems to not have that much of a
problem, but the cd tray has a snap-in guide, rather than just a tray that one
just places the cd in. Perhaps it is a matter of alignment, to me it is one of
lifes little mysteries.
---
So, once you have changed your PC's boot order, just wait, and after a while,
your DSL cd should boot, and off you go.

So how do I change the boot order of the comp to go straight from the cd? Please explain this and i will be good. What happens now is it says press any key to boot from cd (when theres a cd in the drive) and i do and nothing happenes. I tried it on this comp yesterday and all that happened was that it went normally to windows XP, please help. Thanks.

JoMamma,
Make sure you've burned the contents of the .iso to the disc, not the actual .iso file. In other words, you want all the files contained in the .iso on the disk, instead of one damnsmall-x.x.x..iso file.

For example, in Nero, select (something like) "burn iso image to disc", select the .iso file in the file dialog, and hit Burn. Not sure about others, cause I've never used them. In Linux, "cdrecord dev=0,0,0 speed=x -pad -v -eject filename.iso" will "extract" the information from the .iso, and burn that to cd.

If you boot into windows, put in the cd, open Windows Explorer, browse to the cd drive, and all you see on the disc is "damnsmall-x.x.x.iso", then it's not going to work to boot from.

Hope this helps.
