RPM is a package manager for RedHat based systems, such as Mandriva and Suse.  Debian based systems use the DEB package system.  The RPM package manager can probably be installed in DSL, but there's really no need to bother when there is already a better system available with a larger(or so i've read) collection of available titles.

Use the "enable apt" menu item to download and install the DEB package software from the myDSL repository, or install dsl-dpkg.dsl manually.  You may also need gnu-utils.dsl for some debian packages.
myDSL packages are found here:

Find debian packages here:
I can pretty much guarantee you will find deb packages for your needs.

i couldnt find the devel packages i need so i guess dsl is not a good alternative to me i need an os that i can boot anywhere and programm in  so far the booting part is aquired but not the programming part i dont use cplus only thats why - i also need those devel packages to use some IDEs and compilers that require them as a must have.  its not a whim of mine.

gtk+-devel-1.2.10-33.i386.rpm
glib-devel-1.2.10-15.i386.rpm
SDL-devel-1.2.7-8.i386.rpm

those are the packages i need to install in DSL but i couldnt do so
anyone willing to help me install this packages? i really need them

thanks
