If i run DSL off the cd, will it affect my windows xp?A lso, i can't change the default boot that Xp runs off, i even press f12 and try the cd boot and it doesn't work ,plz help.

No it will not effect your windows at all. The only way you will even interact with your windows files is if you were to mount the windows partition.

As far as the cd booting, is your bios set to boot from the cd before the hd? You could also make a boot disk if you end up not being able to boot from the cd. Someone else might be able to offer better advice.

I did that and no luck, btw, i downloaded the dsl-1.4 one, is that right?

If you're currently running XP, then your hardware is most likely new enough that there would be no problem using the standard dsl-1.4.iso.

Are you burning the ISO properly?  This means burning it as a CD image and not just putting the iso file into a typical data CD structure.

I am burning the image with Nero demo, i have a dell if that helps.

I would recommend putting NERO demo in the recycling bin and d-loading a free and easier to use alternative like i did... nero would not work for me try.... freeware
