Hello,

I have a tempermental Gateway 733mhz computer that I've been attempting to install various versions of Linux on to try them out.  The great news is that DSL and failsafe were my saviors.  I can get it up and running, but only in 8 bit or lower color mode until I can get i810 video drivers installed.  Upping the colors (which kicks it into enhanced desktop) will cause the system to freeze entirely (including mouse) within 60 seconds or less.

I have tried other distros and they lock up pretty consistently at a certain point during the install (diff for both distros).  Could someone tell me all of the switches that failsafe activates in DSL so that I could manually type in their equivalents in these other distro installs and find out what their issues are?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Found it (I think).  Located this list under the Knoppix website.  Thanks to anyone who was searching for me.

Our cheatcodes are very different from Knoppix's codes.

Look at isolinux.cfg for what is actually done with various codes in DSL.
