Hi folks,Damn Small Linux is completely new to me. I'm searching for a light-weight word processor which can import/edit M$ .doc file. Please advise which word processor is used on this distro. OR is there any other suggestion. TIA B.R. satimis Posted by cbagger01 on Aug. 29 2005,16:33
Unfortunately, the only word processor that has very good MS doc import function is the open office UCI extension and it is not lightweight.Abiword is a nice compromise between functionality and light weight, but it's MS doc importation sometimes does not go well.

Hi cbagger01, Tks for your advice. What is the word processing package used on DSL? TIA B.R. satimis Posted by SaidinUnleashed on Aug. 30 2005,13:53
Currently, we use FLWriter (Fast Light Writer)It's tiny, and does a decent job. -J.P. Posted by cbagger01 on Aug. 30 2005,16:19
In the past, we have used other small, light word processors but they have had problems like occasional crashes (save your work often )The old ones were ted-gtk and pathetic-writer (Siag Office). I think that they are also available in the myDSL repository. |
