Hi.
I have now dsl 1.2.1 live cd and it boots very smoothly on my celeron 900 Mgh, ram 190 mb.  However, when it comes to the usb modem config., I cannot make it successfully.  I cannot tell dsl to know where the modem is, I guess, or dsl 1.2.1 does not support usb modem ?

Another curiosity, dsl boots smoothly with my 900 Mgh; but when it boots on amd 350 Mgh, ram 160 mb, it always need to boot though 'dsl toram' typing.

Could anyone kindly give me some pointers towards these problem ?

thank you very much.

I do not know a lot about USB modems.

What model modem do you have?

Do you know if it's a real modem? or is it a winmodem?

If it's a winmodem, you're pretty much hosed. DSL only supports real modems.

Hi J.P.

Thank you very much for your direction.

my usb modem is D-Link (but not sure for its model).
what is the difference between real modem and winmodem ?

look forward to receiving more of your guidance.

well basically winmodems are the kind of computer hardware they sell specifically to boost the microsoft dynasty's sales...it only works with windows and such

Trust me, winmodem doesnt work, i've tried. Then again im not an expert on this thing so...good luck hehe JUst keep pluging stuff in and pushing buttons, that's how i get stuff to work...
