Boot from microsystems backpack cdrom?Forum: Other Help Topics Topic: Boot from microsystems backpack cdrom? started by: bturtle Posted by bturtle on Sep. 09 2005,04:17
I'm trying to run (and hopefully install) dsl on an old thinkpad 560, using a microsystems backpack parallel port cdrom. Is there a boot floppy image out there that will recognize it? Or if not, what can I do to get this thing running?Thank you, Becky Posted by cbagger01 on Sep. 11 2005,05:11
< http://damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/index.php/Boot_Floppies >You don't need a backpack boot floppy. Just do a "poormans install" using your old OS or worst case with a DOS boot floppy (and backpack DOS driver). Then use the regular DSL boot floppy disk to start up DSL. I have used a backpack from within Linux, but I have never tried to use it to boot up the system. |
