Hello,I want to make a custom version of dsl I read a how-to and it doesn't sound that hard. I want to customize a few things and I need to know how. 1.fluxbox Desktop background 2.fluxbox contextmenu (the right click menu) 3.fluxbox Desktop Icons 4.startup programs (like how dillo launches when dsl starts) I mostly need to know where the files are located I could probly find them if I looked long enough but I'm sure these are common questions. 1. /home/dsl/.fluxbox/backgrounds/2. /home/dsl/.fluxbox/menu 3. /home/dsl/.xtdesktop/ 4. /home/dsl/.xinitrc and /opt/bootlocal.sh Everything you mentioned can easily be added to an ISO as a myDSL extension, using the mkmydsl script...no remastering of KNOPPIX needed. Check out the wikki for some info on creating extensions. If you want to remaster the KNOPPIX file, "/home/dsl/" would instead be "/etc/skel/". Posted by disks86 on Sep. 21 2005,20:06
I was going to add some programs which will require remastering as far as I know. The whole reason I wanted to change the fluxbox menu is because I wanted to include some programs and shell scripts.Thank you for your quick reply I hope to have a disc ready by next week. hi, I have a problem. how i can install new modules to the original DSL? that doubt entered to me, since before single it used OS like Slax, with which single you include the files .mo in the directory modules..

If you don't like editing the fluxbox text file by hand, you can always download and use the whitebox.dsl extension from the MyDSL repository. It is a nice way to edit the fluxbox settings and even create your own themes. |
