i have dsl 1.4 and it works. still can't get on the net because of windows garbage modem.

i downloaded dsl 1.5 twice and burned the iso cd a couple dozen times, but still it doesn't boot.

i get a dos style curser, then it boots into windows.

i use cd burner xp pro, which worked fine for dsl 1.4 and 0.5.

Did you md5sum?

md5sum is your friend.

now, since i am new to linux and know virtually nothing, what is
md5sum. why is it my friend, and what does it do?

i have begun to hate microsoft. i'm not a programer, hacker, any of the glamorous stuff. just looking for something better.

i have no internet connection, so i can't install to usb. is there a file that i can download in windows and copy over to the pendrive to do it?

i got md5sum and ran it. it shows the file to be good, but it still will not boot. guess i'll stick with 1.4 for now.
