Hi,

I was just wondering if installing XFree86 would be worth while.
I'm running dsl on a p1 120mhz laptop with 16mb ram and 2mb graphics. Things run, but not very fast, espically when there are graphics involved. (example, moving a open dillo window requires the window to be refreshed each time I move it). So would using XFree help or should I stick with the what came with dsl?

Thanks alot!

My guess is that you would be better off sticking with what you have.  You won't be doing any 3D gaming or other openGL stuff with your system, and adding any *.dsl packages to 16mb ram is going to make things even harder.  The only way i can think of that you might benefit from it is to remaster the KNOPPIX file to include xfree86 in the base system or try to rebuild the extension into uci format.

RE: moving windows, I think there is a setting somewhere in the fluxbox configs that allows you to set whether you want the window redrawn as it's moving, or just show the outline box until you finalise the move (which I actually find to be preferable).  Then again, this may be set by default, not in DSL at the moment.
