Hi.  I have a Cannon i550, with no manual.  Can't see any driver on apsfilter menu or reference in DSLWiki - "how to set up a printer .....".    I tried "cannon capsl" under miscellaneous - no luck.  Any suggestions most welcome.
There are some results from Google search but way too complicated for this non techie/ WinDummy.
1. < ftp://download.canon.jp/pub/driver/bj/linux > has a driver, what to do with it?
2. < http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=10540 >  complicated instructions for ubunto including a conversion???
3.  http://www.linuxprinting.org/canon-faq.html#q_8_1  more complicated instructions - for debian?
4  http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-i550  loofs iffy but better explanation of CUPS?
Is apsfilter the same as other similarly named programs?
No clue so any thoughts are much appreciated

Question 2  - does printer have to be plugged in when system booted up?  This can be inconvenient since the printer is shared with our main computer by simply switching the cable.  Usually cable is connected to the main computer.

THanks.

OK had success getting printer running with Puppy Linux < http://www.puppylinux.com/ > using BJC 8200 driver.  Also may work with BJC 7100 driver but did not try this yet.  Still have no idea how to get DSL working with printer though :-(
