Can someone get me on the right track? I need to print to a canon i560 color inkjet printer (usb).I tried the canon driver which is on dsl 0.8.4 but that doesn't work. On the canon-site there is no linux-driver for the i560. Posted by clivesay on Feb. 14 2005,12:46
A couple of suggestions......1. Did you try a driver under the option 4 gimprint? 2. Did you remember to restart the printer daemon after you named your printer? The option 4 drivers have worked on pretty much any printer I have tried so far. Good luck Chris Posted by cbagger01 on Feb. 15 2005,04:47
You can try the newer gimp-print driver (option 5 in DSL 0.9.2).Then choose printer "Canon BJC-7000 [gimp/bjc-7000] which was option number 18 on my screen. According to this website, version 4.2.7 of the gimp bjc-7000 drivers will work with your printer: < http://home.sandiego.edu/~reinholz/freebsd/cups.htm > Posted by Patrick on Feb. 15 2005,07:57
I tried option 4 and got a nice testpage running in color. (printerdriver 24) After that i closed the installation script and started the printerdaemon. After that i couldn't print to the newly made printer. Some info i had to choose/fill in: var/spool/lpd (ower and Group: lp) /dev/usb/lp0 canon_lp (print queue name) Mabey i made a mistake by naming the queue? (was default lp) Posted by Patrick on Feb. 18 2005,08:04
YES!I used the "Canon BJC-7000 [gimp/bjc-7000]" and changed the print queue name back into the default name: lp0 and now it works! i hope i backed-up the right files: var/spool/lpd/lp/ opt/printcap and opt/apsfilter, so i don't have to reinstall the printer again.. Thank you all for helping.. |
