I'm having trouble getting a lexmark z11 printer set-up under dsl-1.0rc2.  Here is how I set it up:

system : printing/lpd : configure printer (apsfilter runs)

accept license Y
...snail mail... now ? N
...it gives permissions of /usr/share/apsfilter of: drwxrwsr-x lp, lp, ...correct ? y
...(a)dd another... or ... (o)verwite ? o
select:
(1) lexmarkZ11
(2) parallel [configured as /lp1]
(3) letter
(4) medium
(5) fill
(6) 300x300
(7) auto
...and print a test page, T... T...

ERROR: addition filter 'cZ11' was not found;
             can't create test page

What did I do wrong ?

Thanks,
rcs

seems like u did the right setup in appsfilter
i have a Z11 got it to work by goin to linuxprinting.org"
downloaded the cZ11 driver copied the cZ11 to /usr/bin"
does not do the test in appsfilter as many do not i found anyway. but it works fine in apps like open office and browser" do not forget to start lpd in desktop
menu/system/printing/lpd/start"
     good luck

I want to use our old Win98 machine as an LPD print server about 4 hours per month.  DSL looks like a mopst elegant way to achieve this, but it seems silly to download and install a print drive monthly to get that to happen.  Is there some way to be notified when the fixed print driver becomes part of the DSL iso?

Silly me, I forgot to mention that I have the same printer type  (Lexmark Z11) and same driver problem described  above.

You could add the print driver name/location to your /home/dsl/filetool.lst,
then make a backup to your win98 HD ( it would be one small file, backup.tar.gz )

When booting DSL, it would automatically find and restore the backup,
and your printer driver file/location would be restored on every boot..

secristrc :  Did you use the "I" key to save your configuration?
and remember, you still need to start your lpd..
