My first experience with Linux .... Perhaps there is something I've overlooked.
My printer will not configure and I'm not sure how to approach the problem.
I have a HP Deskjet 932.  Any help would be appreciated.

Get the cups.dsl.

it should be supported in CUPS.

ok, thanks to the wiki i figured out how to install cups. Now the problem is there's no root password which I need in order to setup a printer in cups. what do we enter for user and password here?

set the root password!

sudo passwd root

aye thanks I figured it out a few minutes after my post and was returning now to edit it. comes from just not understanding how DSL is set up.

anyway, cups installed now but the printer isn't in the list so that means I need a newer hpijs driver I figure which means editing sources.list which can't be done it seems in live mode, which is ok anyway these hoops aren't something I want to leap through anyway everytime I run DSL. So it's a project I'll save for an install to do.

What I'm trying to do is find the best way to go for this rig of mine (Duron 900, 256MB Ram, lots of hard drive space though). I have Linspire on it now which does run really well with all my hardware BUT its a memory HOG since its using all the eye candy of KDE and then some, heck WinXP runs faster than it does on this even. So I'm trying to find the best way to set this up.
