my java download file happends to be a rpm.bin. I know how to do .dsl's but what the hell do I do to get this java up and running for me so I can use limewire and other online stuff that require JAVA! I F*cked around with everything and I got my java file down to a single ".bin" extension. Please help me, im going insane without music.....god forbid I ever lose precious o.

rotfl If it's the java jre that you're trying to get working, like for browser support, check the thread down or two from yours in the apps forum. There are a couple options available to you

Looks like your options are to either use the java UCI from DSL, which you can download from the usual MyDSL repository, or run the .bin file and create a symbolic link in your .mozilla/plugins/ dir. Try the UCI, it look like it'll get you "up" quicker. ;)

ok I got my tar.gz version of java from the library thingy on this site how do I use it ;| ?

what do I do now that I have the java "tar.gz"? how I do unpack it or whatever exactly?

Open emelfm.

Highlight the file.

Press the MYDSL button inside the emelfm window.

well, Idont know about that but I was searching the forums and I simply renamed tar.gz to .dsl I continued to highlight my file and press myDSL button which made my cpu % go up a bit, telling me something was happening and then I could magically open limewire

I also got problems using java uci and firefox , never found out why. I downloaded the jre1.3. bin from the java website and ran it , then copied the files from the new jre folder into their place in my root directory , and this time tried out Opera , and it worked . I think firefox is still missing java ,maybe its better for the security? Bye the way Xmule couldnt connect . I tried alomst everything , till somebody gave me the tip
"limewire" , I should have known earlier , its much better and has a very high transmission :;):
