Beaver notepad will allow preferences like change color background and font size and word wrap while open..I can save a doc to a directory I created and reopen with these preferences in the same session. yes I clicked apply and ok and the message at the bottom said preferences saved..I choose file exit or X and reopen via icon or menu and the preferences are default..I open the saved doc and default preferences apply..is this a solvable issue. this is a non frugal hd install...any input appreciated

Decided to start from scratch..repartitioned and reinstalled and bever is working..will have to monitor as I add to see if it was one of the installs..update it turns out to not be an addon but during initial install..my hardware is likely to blame.

You can always do it manually, the settings are just in ~/.beaver I think which is just a text file.
so

beaver ~/.beaver &

in aterm will let you modify the settings in beaver

thanks..Iwill try that later..working on getting the dockables to run at boot at the moment
