First off I love DSL, AWSOME OS guys, Now to the problem I am having, I have downloaded iso image, burned it to cd, booted sytem and did a HD install, system runs fine, need java run time support so I downloaded jre1_5_0.uci, while i was at the repository I notice edna.dsl which is a mp3 streaming server thought i would give it a try (lan use only) so i downloaded the python.uci also because edna.dsl requires it.  Moved the jre1_5_0.uci and the python.uci and edna.dsl to the / directory, rebooted the system and surfed to a site I know uses java and bam the page displays correctly.  So I am assuming that the jre1_5_0.uci and python.uci are installed and functioning correctly.  So what about edna.dsl?  So i right clicked on the desktop and looked for an edna button, none were present.  So I utilized TFSE at the DSL forum website and found this site:

Can't follow method 1 because there are not any icons on my desktop

Ok moved on to method 2 downloaded the edna.dsl extension with firefox and saved it in the / directory, right clicked on desktop and found the EmelFM button and clicked it found the edna.dsl file and highlighted it and clicked the mydsl button and I recieved this message "You must be logged in as user "dsl" to install a myDSL extension".  Damn that didn't work.

Ok moved on to method 3 opened a terminal  and typed "mydsl-load edna.dsl" and recieved the same message as above "you must be logged in as user "dsl" to install a myDSL extension

Would appreciate any help you can give me to get edna.dsl up and running.

Once again awsome job guys.

Note:  EmelFM and terminal session were run as super user or root

That is your problem.

Is there a reason why you can not just run EmelFM and terminal as the default user ("dsl") and not as super user?

That is all that is required relating to the error message you are getting.

Thank you very much cRunchy

Worked like a charm, myDSL, and edna now shows up in the menu

God I feel so stupid now, goes to show you, you can learn something new every day

Went to the edna website and they say there is a edna.conf file that has to be editied.  So I guess the next step is to go and find the edna.conf file and edit it

Thanks again cRunchy
