Sorry; I'm new to DSL

I downloaded fluxbox, and it appears in home/dsl directory. When I highlight it and click "MyDSL" I get a message about needing to be logged in as a user "DSL" to install a "myDSL extension.  I was that the app would install itself and be ready to use (i.e., would appear by right clicking on the desktop, etc.).  Thanks

Highlight it how? If you are using EmelFM, the just open EmelFM normally by clicking on it. Do not right click and pick the super user option. User DSL is the normal user mode, not the super user mode.

I was in regular mode; I just began using DSL, and am running completely from RAM.  There's probably something basic I don't understand yet, and was following a post regarding installing an app from myDSL. Thanks.

Are you absolutely sure you were user "dsl" when you attempted to install it?  That message should only be shown if you are some other user other than "dsl".

Fluxbox will not appear in your right-click menu. It's a window manager, and it won't run inside another window manager.  Read the info file for the extension to find out how to run it (you should read the info for ANY mydsl package you want to use).

I thought fluxbox was the default for dsl..why do you need to download and install it? just run dsl and it autos to ram with fluxbox..am I missing something?

If fluxbox was downloaded from mydsl, it is probably the development version, which adds a huge pile of features (and size) to the stable version found in DSL.
