I configured sylpheed and it sends and receives on gmail now. But every time I send it closes with an error. anyone know why this happens?

I have the same problem and that's why I have stopped using Gmail smtp. It will send your mail, but you'll not be able to save them in your specified folder.
Gmail smtp does not work well with email clients, the system is configured to run as webmail.
You can't add custom headers either.
I posted onto some mailing lists but I had no replies.

Make sure you've got all your settings correct?

Username: username@gmail.com
pop.gmail.com, SSL, port 995, with no SPA
smtp.gmail.com, SSL, 465
Server Requires Authentication.

I was having a MASSIVE migraine-indicing time trying to configure another Email Client, all because I had a comma where there should've been a period. :angry:

Not sure about why GMail won't save your email where you tell it to, but once I correct the comma/period thing, Gmail works without a hitch.

OK, I have made the changes as suggested by ShadowSystems and the problem persists.
Any other suggestions?
