Use the myDSL extension browser >click on uci> click on jre1_5_0.uci.inf >then click the download button.

That's it it will download and install.

Danger, absolute beginner alert.

What's the difference or relationship between the  jre in the uci directories vs the system directories?

I'm setting up a 15 y.o. Pentium 75 to learn something about Linux. It will not be on any network for a while, if ever, so I will need to download anything I use and move it across on CD.

Thanks.

UCI is a compressed ISO extension, while the system one is not.

The quick answer is:

Use UCI if you are running from livecd or frugal installation to save RAM usage.

Use System if you are running a traditional HD install or if you are running in "toram" mode.
