I have tried to install vncserver whilst running dsl in ram as I have booted it off a CD. I have used synaptic to install it and spent time checking the dependences. However firstly it does not show as an icon nor does it appear on the menus.

I then located it in /ramdisk/usr/X11R6/bin and tried to run it from the prompt by typing ./vncserver and I got the following error:

cannot locate File/Path.pn in @INC .

There are other parts to this message but too many to type up. I can say that they refer to perl .

Any Ideas?

If I cannot Vnc then I need away to connect to the GUI from Windows to DSL

There is a vnc server available from the MyDSL repository under the net catagory.  I have used it in the past and it work for me.

MyDSL-->net-->vcn4x-1.4.6.dsl

dtf, cheers for that - I've kinda got it working. Basically when i was trying to run it from the prompt as I was sudo suing first.

Of course running it as the standard user has made it work. However when I view the session from windows by typing the ip address followed by :1 I get a blank screen. I will try as you have mentioned

Thanks again

once you have installed the vncserver dsl pack you should start Vnc4x to start the service and Vnc4X0 to allow the client watching the screen.

I can do it well but does someone how to put a password to de vnc client?
