As I've said before, and i still believe, "newer" isn't synonymous to "better".  If a software is old and still works, then it is not too old.

If it doesn't work anymore, this is where a problem lies.  An associated problem, though, is that it's very easy to say stuff doesn't work.  Well, what is it that doesn't work?  It isn't going to be fixed if the devs don't know it's broken.

You can always enable apt, change to sarge repos  and take a chance that what you want won't screw your system. I use the sarge repos all the time and somtimes it works and sometimes your screwed.

yes you could say that " is old it works is good "
but with any new system are need new application.
and for new application i mean for thos appz that are needed mor than thi thers like:
old                     new
blender 2.36        2.41
openoffice 1.0      2.0
winrar 3.41          3.60
qcad 2.0.31         2.1
etc....
only software that are really needed.
thaks

I can't speak for the others, but there is no 2.41 blender extension merely because it apparently wants python files that are not found in the python myDSL package, and I didn't feel like building a new python package just for blender.  However, Blender 2.41 will run in DSL without python features...all you need to do is download the official blender release and extract it somewhere.
